I have been painting my house... it looks wonderful.
Kitchen = light canary yellow
adjoining room = peach/orange
bathroom = alien green
dining room = mauve
front room = sky blue
front door = royal blue
C won't change her bedroom, which is a neat stripety look of dark and light blue. our bedroom is depression blue but i will change that some other time when i've figured out what color to use. maybe red. but red takes a lot of work, if you want the right color you have to get a tinted primer first and even then you're looking at 4 or 5 coats to get it right.
hooray for color! the people who previously owned this home lived in drab conditions where gungy martha stewartesque colors were the thing to do. i wouldn't have minded except that they had really bad taste. or they were color blind. probably both.
SO wasn't too sure about it at first, but the colors flow so nicely and they really do grow on you. i might take photos and post them later.
it's true what my dad said. you don't really own a house until you do something for it.
the bathroom is the coolest. you open the door and it is an assault on your eyes! the floor reflects the green. the kids love it hahahaa and it's a good deterrent for unwanted guests. "Sure you can use the bathroom... *snicker*" it was a pain in the ass to remove the previous border though, and lo and behold beneath that border was ANOTHER border. After hours of scraping and swearing I finally decided fuckit and put up a different border. Which is probably a good thing - it offsets the alienesque feeling you get when you walk in.
in any case - that's what i've been up to on my week's vacation.
we also went to storybook gardens on saturday and to wildwood for swimming on sunday. i'll save those stories for another day. now i'm off to start shoving furniture back where it belongs... whooboy. that's the only thing i hate about painting.
