The Earliest Memory you have.

Meeting my brother the day he came home from the hospital. I was two-ish.

The first time you went to school.

Uhm... at the same age everyone else goes to kindergarten. We didn't have JK back then, and daycare was something only elite kids went to.

The first time you learnt something new.

Probably the first time I learned to eat. Which would have been what, 1, 2 days old tops?

The first time you fell in love .

I was 9 and fell in love with a boy named Raymond. Since then I've probably fallen in love eleventy bajillion times.

The first time you went on a date.

What the hell's a date? Haha no really, I cannot remember my first date. Must have been something pretty terrific! [/sarcasm]

The first time you were scolded.

The first time I remember being scolded was the time I cut off all of my cousin L's hair when I was playing hairdresser.

The first time you felt as if you made a mistake.

Too many mistakes, can't calculate the first. I'm not one to regret things so maybe that's why I can't think this one through.

The first time you kept a secret from your parents.

I've kept too many to remember the first.

The first part-time job.

Working at a textile factory packaging socks.

How did you spend your first earnings?

On a dress I had really, really wanted.

The first time you bought clothes for yourself.

I was 14 years old.

The first time you put on make-up.

Twelve, at my mother's insistence.

The first time you changed the colour of your hair.

14 years old, and I've been doing it ever since.

The first time you cooked.

Ten years old, my first cooked meal was roast beef & potatoes & corn.

The first time you felt kindness.

Probably the time my brother and I had come home from school and couldn't get in the house, mom & dad were nowhere to be seen (dad was late from work) and the neighbor across the street took us in from the cold (-20 weather) and kept us warm until one of them came home.

The first time you felt like committing suicide.

Oh come on what kind of a first time is that? When you are a teenager you think about it twenty million times at least. Oh angst! I honestly don't know how to answer this one.

The first time you experienced bereavement.

When I was fourteen, a boy in my class died of heart failure. I believe that's the first time I understood what grief was.

The first time you fought with someone.

I was around 2 and my brother had a spectacular fight involving throwing pudding at each other.

The first time you drank alcohol.

I was two and my parents had had a gathering for my birthday and I kept sipping the bottom of people's drinks when they weren't paying attention because it tasted sweet. Later that night apparently I screamed and got sick all over and kept having nightmares about spiders or somesuch.

The first time you tried smoking.

Eighteen. I was bored and it was something to do.

The first time you felt glad you were born.

I think the moment of my birth. Think about it. I bet babies are really really glad they are born and out of that confined space!

The first time you felt like you had aged.

Probably the first time I muttered something about how awful kids these days are... ahahhaa

The first time you wanted someone so badly it hurt.

I've never wanted anyone THAT badly.

I dreamed I gave birth to elephants and puppies. I was also Ozzy Osbourne's tour manager. He kept making me get him tickets to the opera or some crazy shit like that.

Figure that one out.

so yeah, i feel like i've been stabbed in the ear by a pencil. and my tonsils, normally the size of golfballs, are now the size of baseballs. i stayed home yesterday because i couldn't life my head without feeling dizzy and nauseous.

and yet, despite this, i am going in to work today. This sort of self-pummeling has got to stop but hey they don't see that they just see "so and so missed x amount of days last quarter" they don't see that "so and so came in early every day for the past year and worked late every other day and pretty much alienated half her family in the process" because that would mean they would have to reward me somehow.

i'm not bitter. i'm not.

thank god for meds. mmmm meds.

So this whole "no bread no pasta" for Lent thing I've done to myself is killing me. KILLING MEEEE.

I had my brother & his girlfriend over for dinner last weekend, and decided to make home-made lasagne & home-made garlic bread. Only after these concoctions were created did I think to myself... "oh bloody hell." Guess who had salad for dinner? Yessir that's right.

Bruddah laughed at me and said "what the hell why would you choose something so difficult? I'm beginning to thing you are a masochist or something"

But this is nothing like giving up coffee last year. I was up to 6 cups a day. Going from that to nothing is like one really long, really painful ice cream headache. At the end of it all I bought myself the biggest cup of coffee EVER and drank it all at one sitting... and then my stomach cramped up pulled itself out of my belly button and punched me in the face for being so stupid.

I only occasionally drink coffee now.

I don't think that will be happening with the bread and the pasta.

PS PS I'm tired.

as a final act of boredom i cut all my hair really, really short. i needed the boost and it did the trick. plus, my hair was really mad at me for all the dye i've subjected it to in recent months. so a cut will clear that up nicely.

also today we saw SO's grandfather. it's strange, he is the only great-grandpa left for our kids. all the others are gone. i don't remember my great-grandparents, the last of them died when i was a baby. i only ever had one great-grandfather and i saw him so seldom, it didn't really affect me when he was gone. so i think it's nice that our kids are at an age where they will remember and do get to see him. plus he mentioned he might move from thunder bay back here closer to the fam.

had my employee review yesterday. 1-1/2 hours. phew. i don't even want to go into it. it was a good one but talk talk talk is draining, yanno? at least i have a boss who is interested in encouraging my goals & future plans.

also saw doctor yesterday, but don't want to talk about that just yet.

ok i think that's it for now.

tell me something you have done recently that cheered you up or at least made life a little bit nicer... (even if it was something mean that hella amused you)?

things and stuff

So I went to see my doctor today about that whole "leaking colostrum when I'm not even pregnant and especially during my cycle and by the way it's sometimes green" thing. He then sent me to labs to take out a bunch of blood. Freakin vampires.

Testing: progestrone levels, thyroid stuff, adrenal stuff, estrogen levels, etc etc.

Then I get to go for a mammogram, woo! If they detect anything I *might* need a biopsy. Might.

Then another CT scan to see if my pituitary adenoma has grown (which would explain things going out of whack).

If all of this is news to you, that's because I suck and never tell anyone anything anymore.

My mom's surgeon was in a bad car accident so her operation will have to wait until he is back in action.

What else? Hmmm. Oh! I went to a very cool Gala thing to raise money for our local women's shelter. It was an oscar night event and we had yum yum gourmet food. Hooray for deliciousness!

L is coming to visit me on the 20th.
