I suppose I should post a real post, hmm?

Let's see what's new... my son kicked me in the face when I was tickling him so now I have a big split on my top lip and it hurts like hell. The place where the split is keeps rubbing against my gums which is worrying it rather than letting it heal. Waa waaa I hurts, momma.

C is DYING to go to school on Tuesday, it cannot come fast enough! I took the day off from work to take her to school. She's especially happy about that. I almost never get the chance to take her because of my work schedule, usually it is either SO or SO's Dad. So when I get to do it she is ecstatic.

Some people at work can't understand why I'd take that first day of school off, but it's important to me. It's important to me to make sure that my kids realize in spite of the fact that I work 45-50 hour weeks, come home crabby, etc, they are everything to me and I want to be there for the little milestones in their lives. I purposely didn't go back to work for the first 18 months of both their lives, so I could see all those firsts. Money was incredibly tight back then but it was worth it. Last year I lied about doctor's appointments etc just so I could go to parent-teacher things, how pathetic is that? You know what's even more pathetic? Most of the women at my jobplace who have kids, do this. But the men can announce "I have to go to a parent-teacher thing" and everyone praises him for being the attentive father. If a woman says it, it's "no way you have these fifty bajillion things to do, we are not going to let you have the time". Gotta love balance in the workplace. *grumblefuck*

K is going to be incredibly jealous; he wants to go to school so badly it hurts. I made sure to get him his own special knapsack to take to the babysitter's though so that at least he has something new too. Also got him some new crayons and paper. He loves to draw, they both do. Unfortunately C has taken to drawing on the wall again.

Oh! C drew a picture of Trogdor the Burninator that is just priceless... maybe I'll scan it and post it, if y'all are interested in seeing a five year old's viewpoint.

Speaking of back to school, I myself am going back part time (because I didn't have enough to do! ) to study to be a Municipal Law Clerk. You know, the people who do all the dirty work for lawyers and get paid 1/4th the price. This may seem like an odd choice for me, but honestly I like this sort of thing, and the Sociology program I took at UWO was fine and all but doesn't do much job-wise.

Anyway, time to go make breakfast. Mmm. Breakfast.

So I saw mars tonight and made SO come out and look too. He was unimpressed. "So? It's a big star. Whoopee."

Sometimes we are from entirely different thought-universes.

My LiveJournal Sitcom
slowpeach at the airport (NBC, 6:30): slowpeach (Lon Chaney) gets mad at doulos (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and decides to join the Peace Corps. At the same time, mkbscratch (Emilio Estevez) and lost_n_found (Mary Stuart Masterson) kiss at a fish market. Later that day, mlska (Bill Murray) auditions for a movie starring opposite mitchevious (Grace Kelly). Later, spikyme (Raquel Welch) tells xpunkprincesso (Dick Van Dyke) about Scientology. Afterwards, sarcasmosis (Andy Kaufman) takes kensey (Giacomo, Laura Sa) bowling. Zany antics follow.

is intense.

You're no-nonsense, to the point, working all the time, looking to die an early death in a bathroom somewhere when your body finally gives out. Way to go.

Watched Basic last night with SO. It was really good.

Too tired to say more. Workweek wore me thin.

If love be rough with you, be rough with love;
Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.

Ok. What is worse:

- forgetting breakfast.
- forgetting lunch.
- working through lunch trying your best not to eat off your own hand from hunger.
- spending hours on the phone trying to explain to a customer that the reason why you haven't complied with their wishes is because they have failed to give you an integral part of the process.
- spending hours on hold when you had better things to do.
- leaving work early to go ship things only to arrive at shipping place and remember you forgot the things at work.
- returning to work, picking up things then catching hell for leaving early.
- finally shipping things, going outside to your car to discover you'd locked your keys in it.
- going back into shipping place to discover they cannot allow you to make an outside call, no matter what the urgency..
- walking in the (newly falling) rain to the 'convenience' store, using your last quarter on their payphone only getting an answering machine at home.
- going into the store and asking for change but nooo, you have to buy something first so you buy a damn carton of chocolate milk and go outside again.
- at least the rain stopped.
- but then you trip on a piece of loose sidewalk and fall ass over teakettle... onto the chocolate milk.
- blessedly, the chocolate milk doesn't burst but now you can feel that under your pants, you're scraped from ankle to hip.
- some people you work with observed the whole debacle and never helped.
- finally someone who works in the same building is there and offers you a ride home. you get the ride home but 1) the car stinks to high heaven and 2) they can't shut up about how great your father is.
- you get home to two kids fighting over some nonsense and then call a cab only to have the cab take 45 minutes to get to your house. It even passed your house THREE TIMES before remembering your address, regardless of the fact that you ran out and tried to flag them down.
- finally getting back to the shipping place with your other half's copy of the car keys, the cab splashes you with a puddle as it pulls out and as you go to your car, another car hits your person for no significant reason and then veers off.
- on the way home, a policeman stops you for "not coming to a complete stop" three stopsigns before, even though you did not repeat the transgression with each successive stop sign and they could clearly see you were upset.
- coming home finally, starving because oh yeah, you didn't eat all day, and finding there was no food made. fine. you have leftovers but now your stomach doesn't feel so hot.
- taking a bath, falling asleep in said bath and nearly drowning.
- getting into pajamas and then getting a call from your sister in law at the movie shop telling you oh yeah, the pokemon movies you rented for the kids are three days overdue.
- getting home, typing this, hitting submit and getting an error screen. three. fucking. times. and then when you hit back, realizing you lost everything you just typed.
- getting a phone call from your mother in the interim because she hasn't nagged you to the point where you feel three inches tall in some time.

Now. Picture all this happening on the same day. Like it did to me. Today.

I just realized I haven't made an entry in a while. Well!

Birthday was ok, I don't really want to go into details about it because frankly, I'm tired.

Went to baby shower yesterday which was also 26th birthday party for JMc & SMc (twin friends of mine) it was fun and the kids had a ball but I am a very very tired mum after running around after not only them but everyone else's kids too. Yeah. It was that kind of event. SO came and got the critters from me around 8 so I could enjoy myself, he went home to sleep because he was still recovering from Friday night's card-playing-with-my-inlaws adventure. Meep. Drank some, spent way too long in friends' hot tub, and my in-laws were there and ended up driving my sorry ass home rather than letting me walk home.

I had more to say but blast it, I'm completely groggy from last night so I think now I am going to go lay on the couch and watch old television shows while drinking the tallest glass of water ever.

The signals don't seem right

Posted by Slowplum on 8/01/2003 10:03:00 PM
You said you couldn't stay
You've seen it all before, I know
And sold you on their way
Oh honey that's ok

No harm, he's armed
Settin' off all your alarms
When I find out
I hope it's you who set this trap

And stuffers rarely change
At least I'm on my own again instead of
Anywhere with you
Oh tell me it's all the same

And I've lost my place again
I know this is surreal
But I'll try my luck with you
This life is on my side
Oh I am your one
Believe me, this is a chance
Oh, oh

Let's see what is for sale
He's trying not to give his job a chance
It's never gonna be
It's sad, but I agree
The signals don't seem right
It lasts for just one night, and then
I'm sorry that I said
That we were just good friends

No harm, he's armed
Set it off all your alarms
Entranced, I can't
Be here in time I'll think about that

And I've lost my page again
I know this is surreal
But I'll try my luck with you
This life is on my side
Well I am your one
Believe me, this is a chance
Oh, oh
