OMGOMGOMG.

I am totally excited about the weekend.

I have been planning this thing for MONTHS.

SO and kids = not invited. muahaha.

Of course, if we're not careful, we'll end up killing each other over something stupid. It's the family way!

It will also be fun because I've not hung out with any of them in a long, long, long, long time.

Huzzah!

This is the only thing that got me through today. DAY FROM HELL I TELL YOU. I would get into it, but, meh. What's the point? Day is done. Never take work home with you.

Memorial what now?

Posted by Slowplum on 5/26/2003 04:54:00 PM
Today was hella slow at work because of the whole Memorial Day thing. Which was kind of nice because it meant I got to play catch-up on a few neglected projects. Go me!

I forgot to bring a lunch today and at first I thought "no problem, I'll just grab something from our awful cafeteria" but nooooo it was CLOSED! I was desperately hungry by lunch time (skipped breakfast fully intending to get a bagel at work) and had no vehicle (SO had it to take C to school) so I called him up and thus, he took pity on me and brought me to Wendy's.

SO I had lunch with S and little K and it was great. Great I tell you!

I also found out one of the ladies at work had a massive heart attack on Friday night. It took until this morning to FINALLY stabilize her so they could move her to a room. The poor woman. Hopefully she can be at home by the end of the week. There is some damage to the right side of the heart though so she's in for some pain for a long long while. :/

Tonight is Wing Night, the one night out of the week SO goes out with the boys for beer and cheap chicken wings. It is a tradition that has gone on for a long time started by me kicking SO out of his chair to go out. At first he grumbled about it but now he looks forward to it. Every person needs their wind down time away from family and that's why I started this whole thing. People don't seem to understand that and wonder why I don't have a problem with him going out every Monday night and drinking and stuff. I'd rather he be doing that than going stir crazy in the house never going out to do anything!

Along with this tradition is myself hemming and hawing over what the heck to make for supper for just me and the kids. Nine times out of ten it's like, sammiches and soup or Kraft Dinner. Because it's easy requires no serious prep time and little to no thought on my part. Tonight will be no different. Ahhh Mondays. Bane of my existence.

To further make my Monday yucky, there seems to be a total lack of Strong Bad Email Updating. Le sigh.
Update: THEY UPDATED! YAY!

Wow I totally suck. Can this post get any more boring?

CURSE YOU MONDAY!

On the bright side, there are only FIVE DAYS to my girlie gathering! Huzzah!

Guilty Pleasures

Posted by Slowplum on 5/25/2003 10:10:00 AM
Why oh why do I love the E! channel so much? It makes me giddy. Except Joan Rivers, whose voice to me is the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Gaaahhh. Just thinking about it is making my ears hurt.

Boy woke me up at 5 am this morning. Whee! Still tired from it.

Don't wanna work tomorrow. Nice though it will be a slow day because of the holiday...

Mmmmm Tim Horton's hot chocolate... if I could purr I would.

I would also like to watch X2 again, just to watch Wolverine slice people in half again.

I would also like the sun to come out so I can bask in it.

So C's birthday party at the McCrappy's caboose was today. It went really well in all there were about 8 kids which is pretty good number, any more and it's total chaos! The McDonald's gift bags were lame as I knew they would be so I put together hella cool gift bags using stuff from the dollar store (thank god for dollar stores), with mini bubbles and pencils and candies and stamps and stickers and whistles (big mistake that one, it was noisy as all get out at one point) and these hats with jungle animal faces on them so they all started acting like zoo animals too ahahhahaa it was totally worth it to see the kids have fun.

She got some nice stuff and everyone seemed to have some good fun so yay!

I am totally exhausted. My dear man let me sleep a few hrs in the afternoon because after the party I was ready to fall asleep on my feet.

I've really got to stop burning that candle at all ends. I've got to start learning to be nicer to myself again as well.

Now I'm going to go back to bed because mmmm... sleep...

Crazy?

Posted by Slowplum on 5/23/2003 07:06:00 AM
So K has a cold and hasn't slept well in a while. C is starting to get one and yup, I am too because hey if I'm not sleeping then I'm not resting then I'm not fighting off evil germs.

I've been trying to stop myself from the habit of closing every closet in the house in a particular order before I can go to sleep. Last night I managed to last at least an hour before I got up and did it.

No beer and no tv make Homer go something something

Go crazy?

DON'T MIND IF I DO!

So wow. Yale got bombed. Huh.

Saw X2 lastnight. Loved it.

Caboose party for C is this weekend.

Friday she has a class trip to a farm, I am going with her. It should be fun.

I've been busy and busy and busy again.

Want sleep. Not getting it. Argh.

So. I dyed my hair again yesterday. First I bleached it to strip its previous color, then I walked around blonde for a while. It was rather surreal so I thought "ok enough of this" and covered it up with a sort of ruby color. Pretty.

Friday as you know was C's birthday. Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes. :)

We gave her a purple bike for her birthday - she was thrilled! After work I also picked up some helium balloons with one big Hello Kitty one on it (she adores Hello Kitty, wonder where she gets it from? ;p ) and both her and K got a stuffed Clifford doll.

We had pizza and cake for supper per the birthday girl's wishes. Her caboose party is next week but we wanted to to something nice on her actual birth date anyway. So my parents came over for that and gave her her presents.

On Saturday we all more or less vegged out. C went shopping with my folks (she had birthday money to spend but K was being cranky so he stayed home with me. Otherwise we'd all three have gone out sans my folks). Anyway. She bought some little hamtaro thingies. Then my bruddah gave her a Hello Kitty backpack sort of bag thing and *more* hamtaro. She was blissful. Came home and we all just snacked because nobody was really hungry. SO came home from work we all hung out then the kids went to bed. I was exhausted because I haven't been sleeping much lately but did I go to bed? Noooo. I stayed up playing NWN of all things. hahhaha

Yesterday we all went to SO's parents' home for a birthday barbecue for C. Are you getting a sense of how spoiled she is this year? Yeah. So my parents and his parents and our grammas all had barbecued things and etc. C was sort of getting under the weather though so she hung out lying down onthe couch for a little while. Then MMc & MrsMc (my friend JM's parents whom I've known for years and years and years) came over as well and we all had cake. MrsMc's birthday is the exact same day as C's so she always jokes that C was the best birthday present I've ever given her. hahah

Yesterday I also dyed my hair again. Wait I already said that. Bah I'm tired.

Today is a holiday in Canada. But I get to go to work anyway because the US still expects things to be shipped business as usual. Why oh why can't we synchronize our holidays???

OK off to work with me.

Saturday was SO's cousin Mm's baby shower. She got some really cute stuff. Funny, the family didn't know she was pregnant till we got the invites to her shower, she's due next month! Part of this is because she has had a few miscarriages and was scared to tell everyone then lose the baby again so.

I got breakfast made for me on mother's day by SO and K. C had stayed over at my parents' the night before which was kind of nice because it got me some one on one time with the little guy.

Sunday was a total fiasco. K's baptism.

He almost didn't get baptised because the deacon didn't have his paperwork? He started up stuff for the other two babies there and completely passed over K. So my mom pipes up "Excuse me you forgot this boy" and the guy replied "I have no information for this child" really rude-like. He must have realized how rude he sounded so he asked us to wait until the christening for the two other babies was over and he'd do K then. Asked us to go to the rectory and find the priest to see if he had anything. Couldn't find him anywhere. Checked the rectory, the office, the hall..

So then. After the other two kids get baptised the deacon asks SO and I to go to the office with him and shuffles through paperwork but can't find ours anywhere. Asks us where we got married etc. Finds our marriage document and suddenly everything is peachy keen. He makes us re-fill out forms and then apologises profusely on behalf of the parish, yadda yadda.

We get back in the church to find out that HE HAD HIS MICROPHONE ON THE WHOLE TIME and everyone has heard everything he's said. It was pretty funny actually and he was rather embarrassed. After that it was smooth sailing and we got K baptised. But whooboy. What a mess. It took three of us to hold K down for the water part and he kept going from person to person during the ceremony but otherwise he was pretty well behaved all things considering it was a good day.

The lady who handles the documents called yesterday while I was at work and was extremely apologetic hoping there was no hard feelings etc.

It's a good thing I'm laid back about these things.

Yay, 23 days till Crazy-Go-Nuts!

Invitations for C's birthday have been sent. One of the girls in her class moved away and is going to a different school now. We didn't know until the teacher told SO when he brought C to school yesterday.

Tomorrow is S's birthday. She is going to be 25. Wow does the time pass, I still remember her at 15! Time slips through the fingers. Or somesuch.

I don't wanna go to work today.

What do you do to chase the "I hate work" blues away?

0

ROAR. Or something.

Posted by Slowplum on 5/06/2003 06:50:00 PM
Today was this one girl at work's last day. So we all went to her favorite restaurant to send her off with a lunch. I don't think half the table even liked the girl. Sad, really. If you don't like her why show up? It wasn't mandatory and a lot of people didn't go. Meh.

I was grumpy today too because I'm getting tired of hearing all the drama from my quiet little cube. Some people I work with *live* for conflict so they're stirring the pot whenever they have spare time. Which seems to be often.

So for C's birthday we are having a Caboose party at McDonald's. I know, I know, but it's her 5th birthday and though we really can't afford it, we're giving her this because it's her first real party with friends from school and everything. We are doing it the weekend after her actual birthday because we figure nobody will come to one on the long weekend.

I remember growing up as a child a lot of my birthdays sucked and I want to try and make them good for my kids. Even though we can't afford much we can still do things to make them feel special. For instance I am going to get off work early on the 16th, C's actual birth date and go get her out of school early. Then her and I are going to get ice cream and walk around the river, just the two of us. K will still be at my in-laws' house. She has no idea I am going to do it, it will be a surprise.

I might make her a chocolate cake... for breakfast. :)

Now I'm gonna go give them a bath read them a story and put them to bed. Or somesuch. Maybe if I'm lucky I can fit a bath in for myself after they're tucked in.

I miss baths. I used to take them twice, sometimes three times a day. They kept me calm and soothed my static nerves. It's been mostly showerville since I became a mom. No sense taking a bath, nine times out of ten I'm interrupted by someone needing something. No wonder I'm so damn moody all the time now. Ha!

the boringest post ever!

Posted by Slowplum on 5/05/2003 06:48:00 AM
So this weekend coming up is a busy one, Friday night is S's 25th birthday thing, Saturday is a baby shower for SO's cousin MM and Sunday is K's baptism/Mother's Day.

Breakfast this morning was dry mini-wheats and a glass of milk to chase them down. I never eat cereal the "proper" way. What fun is that?

Four more weeks till the family gathering I am hosting. Whee!

This is the boringest post ever.
