i resigned from being a content editor for e2. life too busy, what with my mom and with work and with the kids and with well, everything. heh.

bones did leave the door open though that whenever i was ready to return, just say the word. we'll see. we'll see.

part of the problem is that it is only recently that the younger folks are taking a keener interest in politics (better exposure to it i suppose? i don't know)

the other part of the problem is that we are stuck between a rock and a hard place here: it's almost like choosing the "lesser of evils".

i am concerned with a party that uses mudslinging as its main platform. (that is, at least, what is occuring locally.)

i am also concerned with a party that has a stand on social issues that requires containment.

i also remember brian mulroney, which gives me pause when it comes to voting pc. if twice, shame on us, you know? nafta anyone? gst? no thanks. i see where the progressive conservative's "economic reform" has taken us before.

not that i'm blind to where the liberals have taken us. but even so.

and ontario has been burned too badly & too recently by the ndp to go that path again, i think. to have the ndp & pc while being a plausible idea, wouldn't necessarily provide good results.

i don't know how i'm going to vote this year, and i've voted on everything i was given the right to vote on since i turned 18.

this will be interesting indeed.

Roger Bart completely saved The Stepford Wives from being a total waste of money.

I hadn't planned on seeing it... went out with a co-worker KH who wanted to but couldn't get anyone else to. I figured, meh, Chris Walken's in it, that should be interesting, right?

Does anybody else remember the original movie? That was a horror film. This... I can't even begin. The only horrific part is the amount of money some of these "actors" got paid to work in it.

the little prince...

Posted by Slowplum on 6/18/2004 07:07:00 AM
When the little prince arrived on the Earth, he was very much surprised not to see any people. He was beginning to be afraid he had come to the wrong planet, when a coil of gold, the color of the moonlight, flashed across the sand.

"Good evening," said the little prince courteously.

"Good evening," said the snake.

"What planet is this on which I have come down?" asked the little prince.

"This is the Earth; this is Africa," the snake answered.

"Ah! Then there are no people on the Earth?"

"This is the desert. There are no people in the desert. The Earth is large," said the snake.

The little prince sat down on a stone, and raised his eyes towards the sky.

"I wonder," he said, "whether the stars are set alight in heaven so that one day each one of us may find his own again... Look at my planet. It is right there above us. But how far away it is!"

"It is beautiful," the snake said. "What has brought you here?"

"I have been having some trouble with a flower," said the little prince.

"Ah!" said the snake.

And they were both silent.

"Where are the men?" the little prince at last took up the conversation again. "It is a little lonely in the desert..."

"It is also lonely among men," the snake said.

The little prince gazed at him for a long time.

"You are a funny animal," he said at last. "You are no thicker than a finger..."

"But I am more powerful than the finger of a king," said the snake.

The little prince smiled.

"You are not very powerful. You haven't even any feet. You cannot even travel..."

"I can carry you farther than any ship could take you," said the snake.

He twined himself around the little prince's ankle, like a golden bracelet.

"Whomever I touch, I send back to the earth from whence he came," the snake spoke again. "But you are innocent and true, and you come from a star..."

The little prince made no reply.

"You move me to pity - you are so weak on this Earth made of granite," the snake said. "I can help you, some day, if you grow too homesick for your own planet. I can-"

"Oh! I understand you very well," said the little prince. "But why do you speak in riddles?"

"I solve them all," said the snake.

weird email!

Posted by Slowplum on 6/15/2004 10:01:00 PM
I got this at work today it was addressed to someone other than me so i'm not sure how i got it...

In diessem Sinne"

Now understand, I do not speak German, I read very, very little German, and have never heard of the person who supposedly sent it to someone who shouldn't have been me. the to was to something like 3dantje@(myworkplaceblablabla)

Weiiiiiiird.

Going through one of those language junkety thingerbobbers results in something about right-wing extremists, chemotherapy, and something about taxes.

Meh. Made for an interesting afternoon.

It is interesting to note that Beatles songs are a sure way to put my son to sleep.

Main offenders:

Here Comes the Sun
You Never Give Me Your Money
Dear Prudence
Yesterday
Rocky Raccoon.

He finds it soothing or something. He is currently asleep in my lap. He is almost getting too big to cuddle in my lap like this... I'm soaking it up for what it's worth. There is something about a sleeping child that gives me a peaceful feeling. Which is exactly what I needed after a yucky work day.

Also a little almost-4-yr-old boy's snore is pretty funny.

Another wonderful thing about K: spontaneous hugs and "I love you"s.

Also interesting to note, C prefers the crooning of Leonard Cohen when she is feeling sleepy. In particular, the song Suzanne.

Ok time to put the big lug in his bed.

so sad...

though i suppose in a way he hasn't really been around for a long while... the disease he had saw to it that he wasn't. :/

i realize that the presidential brush people have been painting him with is a little well, skewed. we painted trudeau with a similar brush when he expired.

i think it was more or less the realization that he dealt with alzheimer's for that long before going.

what's really sad (but not in the boohoo way) is that when the current leaders of our countries die, they too will have the nicey nicey paint job.

i think maybe that's why i hate funerals. nobody tells it like it is. i didn't go to my mother's father's funeral for just that reason, i couldn't have handled the hypocrasy that absolutely did occur. "what a nice man, salt of the earth, etc etc"

anyhow i'm starting to digress so i'll stop.

...your son singing ween's "push th'little daisies" as you are getting him ready for bed.

it comes out like "pushaleelodizziesanmakacaba". i couldn't make out what he was trying to say at first until C chimed in with the chorus.

i love my kids. :)

Tonight was C's first game. It was a lot of fun and the kids are too too funny. No such thing as positions; just a giant swarm around the ball with a few trailing behind. Like bees or something.

Might have some issues with a couple aggressive kids; might have bigger issues with aggressive parents. Hrmmm.

The head coach R is a good guy and knows his stuff. I am very relieved.

Ook. Now I'm tired.

Tomorrow is a visit to Storybook Gardens with C's class. I was going to bring K too but I need to keep my wits about me so I don't lose anyone else's child. We'll go as a family later on in the summer I think.

I should really be cancelling out all together because I still feel like a huge brick is on my chest and I tire out easily... but they would be short on parents and that just isn't cool

o well

Now I'm off to go see if I can con someone into going to sky to get the spiroc blade (that will only make sense to like, three of you)
